Santo Domingo
Enjoy the fascinating culture of Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. In the heart of the colonial district we recommend visiting the Alcázar de Colon, the first Cathedral in the New World; the Pantheon; and el Conde, the first commercial street in the New World. One of the most interesting routes starts at El Conde gate, located oppostite Independencia Park, and which crosses the entire district down to the Ozama river. The bank of the river is home to a vast variety of colonial buildings bearing witness to the birth of the city and how it expanded inland.
