Excursions and Nearby Activities

Punta Cana provides you with countless plans to combine the relaxing atmosphere of our hotels with a more active holiday consisting of excursions, activities and entertaining attractions.

There are several nature parks for outdoor lovers such as Los Haitises (near Samaná), and semi-deserted islands such as Saona Island and Catalina Island (near La Romana). Moreover, if you fancy discovering the mixture of native culture, you will love Altos de Chavón in La Romana and, of course, the city of Santo Domingo.

Get to know some of the amazing plans awaiting you and discover the infinity of places to see and visit in Punta Cana.

  • Cayo Levantado

Nature lovers in search of paradise will find it at Cayo Levantado - a beautiful little island located off the east coast of the Bay of Samaná. The perfect place to get away to. Swim in crystal-clear turquoise water while enjoying the striking views of the Samaná hills. The chance to explore the region´s rich biodiversity, together with an exquisite buffet lunch, will guarantee you an unforgettable day.

  • Saona Island

You are bound to have heard of Saona Island. White sand, unimaginable blue water, miles of palm trees... the closest you will get to heaven on earth. This fantastic island is located in the southeastern part of the island, and is the biggest in the Dominican Republic. Sail to Saona Island by hobie-cats and savor the rest of the day in heaven on earth. Take a speedboat ride and swim in the crystal-clear water of the biggest natural rock pool in the Caribbean.

  • Adventure Park

Punta Cana features a number of natural thematic areas with numerous attractions ranging from adrenaline-filled adventures and activities to cultural experiences; such as soaring high over the Caribbean and its vegetation on a zipline or taking a ride through nature on a horse.

  • Swimming with dolphins

There are a number of different excursions geared to swimming with dolphins and interacting with other amazing animals in a unique tropical environment. You will be able to see these marvelous creatures up close, dancing and playing with them, addition to getting to know other animals such as sea lions, rays and sharks.

  • Santo Domingo

Enjoy the fascinating culture of Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. In the heart of the colonial district we recommend visiting the Alcázar de Colon, the first Cathedral in the New World; the Pantheon; and el Conde, the first commercial street in the New World. One of the most interesting routes starts at El Conde gate, located oppostite Independencia Park, and which crosses the entire district down to the Ozama river. The bank of the river is home to a vast variety of colonial buildings bearing witness to the birth of the city and how it expanded inland.
