Mac Akin

From his roots in the New York tri-state area to the SF Bay Area, Mac has had the fortune of playing with a number of music’s revered icons, from members of the E Street Band and the Asbury Jukes to former members of Tower of Power and others. Mac’s influences include all genres of the Blues (his first love) through Jazz, and of course Rock & Roll.

His good fortune continued as bassist for a number of Bay Area bands including Frankie G & the Conviction, Aja Vu – The Music of Steely Dan, and active studio work for many other musicians and bands. As the bassist for Majestic – San Francisco’s Ultimate Tribute to Journey, Mac shares a common love for the seemingly timeless music of Journey. “It’s a honor to play along side such devoted musicians and to deliver the music of Journey with the passion and respect it deserves – and besides, we’re havin’ a helluvallotta fun!”

Mac’s main bass is a 1992 Fender Jazz Bass Plus using Thomastik Infeld strings. For his amplifiers, Mac prefers a MarkBass MoMark Black 800 through a MarkBass Standard 106HF bass cabinet.
